Making natural oils at home can be fun. Once made, these oils can be used for a number of purposes. They can be burned to add fragrance to the air, used as bath oil and also used as hair oil.

Here are some simple instructions to make natural herbal oil at home:

1) Take a large clean glass bottle with a tight lid.
2) Add common Ayurvedic herbs into the jar.
3) Pour oil into the jar until it fully covers the oil. Coconut oil and olive oil are the best.
4) Cover the lid tightly and keep the jar in mild sunlight.
5) Let the oil soak the herbs for about 30 days. Shake once in a while for proper mixing.
6) After 30 days, filter the oil using a strainer into another clean jar.

Herbal oil is ready to be used.

Additional tips:

==> Use raw herbs as dried herbs lose the natural oils in them.
==> Experiment with a variety of herbs.
==> Ensure that the jars are dry. Presence of moisture can cause the oil to go bad.
==> Discard the oil if it starts smelling bad.

Herbs that can be used include cinnamon, lavender, mint, willow bark, sage, chamomile, vanilla and rosemary.
