Jai (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera (Deepika Padukone) are a present-day couple living in London. They have a good life together. However, they choose to part ways because they cannot cope up properly with their feelings for one another.
On the other side, we are taken to the story of Veer (Saif) and Harleen (Deepika) who lived in the 1960s. Veer follows Harleen in Old Delhi. Both of them are convinced that they are made for each other. Veer travels a thousand miles to meet Harleen...to have a glimpse of her face. Yet when he sees her, he doesn't even speak a word with her.
The movie oscillates between the two time-lines: “aaj”--today and “kal”--yesterday and the twin sets of lovers. The movie depicts that things change with time, yet they remain the same. We also get to see some nice, tender moments and sober romance.
The characters of Veer and Jai contrast each other. Veer doesn't understand how Jai can take matters of love so lightly and Jai doesn't understand the obsession Jai showed in his youth towards Harleen. However, as the movie unfolds, we realize that things as much as they change, remain the same.
On the whole, the movie is pretty good. It is for the young and romantic. The music is melodious and so is the acting by Deepika. Watch the movie, you won't be disappointed.
