Thanks to the publicity, Amaravathi has created enough curiosity to bring the audience into theatres without big stars and big names behind the project. Its been a while that horror movies has hit the bulls eye in tollywood, the last being Mantra and Anasuya. Though the makers have succeeded in pre-release publicity, one has to wait and watch of how well it is going to fare at box-office. Ravi babu is one director in tollywood who can be applauded for churning out movies in a different genre yet making it a commercial product. He has done that before and tasted success in the form of Allari, Anasuya and Nacchavule.

Getting into the plot of the movie, Amaravathi (Bhumika) is daughter of a rich landlord in a village called Mutyala revu. Venkat (Ravi babu), Amaravathi and Srinu (Taraka ratna) are childhood friends. Srinu doesn’t like the number ‘10’ for some reasons. As Amaravathi reaches puberty, the landlord tells Srinu’s mother to keep her son away from her. One day Srinu wants to present Amaravathi with the pearls he bought from a stream of water. The landlord knowing this slits Srinu’s throat and kills him by pushing him into the stream and later kills his mother also. After several years, a curious case comes up to the local special task force where a person calls up Emergency services (108) and informs that a pregnant women is in critical condition and by the time they reach there, the women was removed of their child. This happens around eight times but the police could not find a clue. Venkat, who is now a police officer takes up the case along with Kiran (Sindhura Gadde) and starts interrogating a person who behaves weirdly by saying strange things. In the course of time, Venkat finds that a person from Mutyala revu is behind this. During investigation, he finds that it is none other than Srinu. Venkat is married to Latha (Sneha) who is pregnant now. Until now there have been nine baby snatches and will Latha be Srinu’s tenth target? To know what happened next, one has to watch it on screen.
Though the film is named as Amaravathi, we can see Bhumika chawla from the second half of the movie. She has done a decent job though there is no much screen presence. Taraka ratna as Srinu has done excellent work in this movie. This movie can be termed as second innings for Taraka ratna. Ravi babu has done the main character in the movie. Gadde Sindhura is ok in the role of police officer. Sneha has done a decent job.
Director Ravi babu succeeded in taking out some electrifying performances from Taraka ratna and keeping the audiences glued to their seats. Though there are no songs in this movie, he hasn’t missed out any commercial elements. The movie has a new theme and novelty in execution. Cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy and Background score by Sekhar Chandra are of high standards. Screenplay by satyanand is ok and editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. To me, I feel this movie caters well to multiplexes audiences rather than B, C, centers. One has to wait and watch of how well it will fare at box office.

Arya 2 has released with lots of hype and expectations as it is supposed to be a sequel to Arya, the movie that has bought Allu Arjun – the Stylish Star status. The only similarity one can find with the earlier version is the name of characters. Except for that, this movie is entirely different from Arya.
The story begins with two childhood friends Arya (Arjun) and Ajay (Navdeep) involving in competition in every aspect of life. They both are orphans and live in an orphanage. Ajay always has a desire to beat Arya in any competition but Arya always emerges victorious and keeps ahead from Ajay. A rich couple once visits the orphanage and wanted to adopt one of these two guys. They use a toss to decide their fortunes and Arya wins. But he lets Ajay go as he thinks that friendship is all about sacrificing. Ajay grows up as a very rich man and Arya grows up as a poor guy. Ajay starts a software company where Arya joins as an employee. Geeta (Kajal Agarwal) enters into their life when she joins the company. The duo fall in love with her and Ajay takes the initial step and asks Arya to help him to adore the girl. Arya sacrifices his love for Ajay and helps him out. But later Arya realizes that Geeta is in love with him and the suspense part of the movie starts here. The rest of the story is all about who will marry Geeta.

Allu Arjun as Arya has done a fantastic job and has emerged as the best dancer in tollywood. His dances in the first four songs are excellent. He enacted the psychotic behavior with ease and has excelled in all the emotional scenes in the later half of the movie. Navdeep has done a good job as Ajay. His dialogue delivery is good in the movie especially in the climax. His act as a selfish guy is commendable. Kajal as Geeta is very good in the movie. Her role required innocent looks and she matched perfectly to the core. She has been improving from movie to movie. Shradha Das looks gorgeous in the brief role. Ajay and Brahmanandam excelled in entertainment departments. Mukesh Rishi and Sayaji shinde are ok.
Direction by Sukumar is of high standards. It’s highly risky to take a subject of this type where hero is projected in negative shades especially in tollywood, but Sukumar has come out with flying colors. He is undoubtedly one of the gifted directors in tollywood. Devi Sri Prasad’s music is the best till date. It is sure to top the charts in 2009. All the songs are great and the background score is very good. Cinematography by Rajashekhar is of top standards. Editing work by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. Dialogues are well written by Vema reddy. The production values by Aditya Arts banner are high class.
The second half of the movie is better than the first half, especially the last 15 minutes. It looks like Arya 2 will hit the bull’s eye as it has all the ingredients of a hit movie. One has to wait and watch for the people’s verdict.

Varun (Varun Sandesh) is a jobless guy, crazy for bikes and wastes time with his friends. He is from a middle-class family and dreams to own a bike. He blames his father (Thanikella Barani) for not buying him a bike, as he needs one to get into job. His father realizes this and gives him 70,000 rupees, which he kept aside for his daughter’s marriage. Later Varun gets a job as a bank recovery agent and makes his parents happy, as bike is compulsory for doing this job. He falls in love with the girl Hema (Neha Sharma).Till he gets job the movie goes smooth. The story takes its turn when the bike is stolen one night. Later Varun traces the stolen bike where he realizes that it is being done by a group of dope smugglers. His life falls into jeopardy when he is being pulled into mafia dealings and gets into trouble with the goons and the police. The rest of the story has to be watched on big screen if one is interested in typical Telugu action movie.

Varun Sandesh as Varun has done a decent job as an action hero, which is different from his earlier movies. He is showing a lot of improvements from film to film and is proving that he can do any type of character. Neha Sharma looks good in this movie compared to her debut film Chirutha. She has improved her acting skills and looks more glamorous in this movie, especially in songs. RaviShankar (the voice of Aghora in Arundhati) has done a decent job as a gangster. There is nothing much to be appreciated in the comedy department which has been handled by Ali and M.S.Narayana. Thanikella Barani as Varun’s father is very good in sentimental scenes.
This movie is a remake of Tamil super hit “Polladhavan” starring Dhanush. This movie is a full-length commercial entertainer with some catchy songs and loads of fights. The first half of the movie is average and it goes down in the second half. Its all about how Varun gets back his bike, protect his family from gangster and win the heart of Hema. The climax of the movie is very predictable with a very long slow motion fight. Screenplay and Direction by Sandeep Gunnam is just average. Achu’s music and background score is good. Cinematography is poor. The only saving grace of this movie is Varun’s acting, Neha’s glamour and some catchy tunes. With some very big budget movies ready for release in coming weeks, the box-office prosperity of this movie looks dull. Anyway, one has to wait and watch for people’s verdict.

Ek Niranjan Chotu (Prabhas) is born in a poor family. His life changes one day when he was stolen by a member of beggars' mafia gang. After he grows up, situations make him a police informer. He makes it as a profession to nab culprits and hand over them to the police. In return, the cops pay him some money. To give a love twist to the film, a character named Sameera (played well by Kangana Ranaut) has been introduced. She is a music teacher who plays guitar. Now, the story takes an interesting turn when Chotu has been given the responsibility to catch a mafia gang member who happens to be the brother of Sameera. The role of the dangerous mafia gang leader has been played well by Johnny (Sonu Sood). From there on, the story proceeds to take many twists and turns and how he defends all odds in saving the guy whom he should catch. The encounters between Chotu and Johnny are interesting to watch.

If Vinayakudu was the love story between a fat guy and a hot babe, its sequel Village lo Vinayakudu takes over from where the earlier film has left us with, which is about the feelings of the fat guy but here he has to take over the father of the girl he loves much. The film begins with a strong indication that Karthik (played by Krishnudu) and Kavya (played by Saranya Mohan) are in love right from the time she was pursuing her MBBS. Meanwhile, Karthik is a teacher at a kindergarten school. The story takes a big turn with the return of Kavya to her native village and as destiny has it, she is afraid to tell her dad Col Lakshmipathi (played by Rao Ramesh) about the fact that she is in love. Lakshmipathi, who is a retired army colonel, is well settled along with his brothers and their families in their village. Eventually, this brings Karthik to Kavya's village and tells Lakshmipathi about the fact that Kavya and himself are very much in love. This angers him as he can't bear the reality that his daughter may have to spend the rest of her life with a fat man.
