Bhadrachalam is a major tourist attraction in Andhra Pradesh. Every year, many pilgrims from various parts of the state and country visit the town to worship at the temple. The temple at Bhadrachalam was built by Ramadas and dedicated to Shri Rama. Subsequently, Ramadas was jailed for 12 years by Tani Shah, the king of Golconda for misappropriating funds. Legend says that Lord Rama and Laxmana, moved by the plight of his devotee, repaid the money to the king and Ramadas was released.

In addition to the Rama Temple, Bhadrachalam also has many smaller temples dedicated to other gods and goddesses. Notable of these include the Lord Shiva and Narasimnha temples. The main temple also has a small museum where one can see the jewelry and other artifacts of that era. One can also see the various edicts made by Ramadas. These edicts deal with rituals and administration of the temple.

Another popular attraction is Parnasala which is 35 KM from Bhadrachalam. Legend says that it was at Parnashala that Ravana, the demon king abducted Sita, the wife of Rama. Parnashala is worth visiting if you plan to 2-3 days in Bhadrachalam.

One can also take a boat-ride in the Godavari river. The ride is very enjoyable and it is possible to get a good view of the Godavari river and tribal-life on its banks. The usual trip lasts for about 5 to 7 hours and all amenities including breakfast, lunch and evening snacks are provided on-board. Boat rides can also be scheduled from Rajahmundry, which is a nearby town.

Bhadrachalam has good accommodation facilities. The temple administration i.e. the Devastanam provides air-conditioned rooms that cost Rs. 200-350 per night. These rooms are located near the main temple. This complex is known as "Sita Nilayam". The state government also runs dormitories which cost Rs. 150 per night. Additionally, there are also many hotels nearby. In case all the cottages have been booked, private hotels may be a good option.
